Big Bear Ski and Snowboard LessonsNote: Some of these links will take you out of the Ski and Snowboard Lessons page to another site. These links will open a new window. Bear Mountain Resorts has ski and snowboard education programs that allow students to learn at their own pace. The program aims to keep a beginning skier's learning experience enjoyable. Bear Mountain has a large beginner area that gives more room to learn to snowboard and learn to ski in Big Bear. Coaches help ski students with every aspect of their learning, from renting the right ski equipment to tackling banks, jumps and half pipes. Bear Mountain provides series instruction called Smart Terrain, that includes specific zones for each process of learning. Smart Terrain reduces the student's fear and fatigue associated with first time ski or snowboarding. So much care was dedicated to the making of these lessons that Bear Mountain even thought about the anxiety of gaining too much speed by making slight uphill slopes in the beginner's area. As is obvious to any observer, snowboarding is different from skiing. Bear Mountain Resorts have recognized this, and created learning programs for beginning snowboarders called the Burton Method. Burton Snowboard Company developed snowboards, boots and binding specially made to cater to a beginning snowboarders' needs. Just as with the Big Bear ski lessons, the learn-to-snowboard lessons also includes in depth how-to's such as renting the right snowboard equipment. Bear Mountain works with the United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC). The USARC enables people of all disabilities the opportunity to ski. The adaptive ski school program offers full or half day lessons that includes private instruction, lift tickets, as well as the use of equipment such as mono-skis, bi-skis or outriggers. |
