Adventure PassBasic InformationThe Adventure Pass is a recreation fee program which helps in the maintenance of the National Forest. The forest adventure pass is also used to fund clean up efforts of regularly used areas of the forest such as hiking trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, et cetera. Who Needs the Adventure PassYou will need the Adventure Pass if you plan to park off the road, trail heads, parks, or any place in the forest. Parking for recreation that requires this pass includes but not limited to playing in the snow, hike, bike, picnic, stroll or fishing. You will not need an Adventure Pass if you are parked to ask for information at a rangers station, visitor's center or if you are parked in a campground that already charges a fee for its use. Many times there will be signs stating you must display a pass. If you are in doubt as to when you should use a pass, the golden rule is if you are parked to play, then you need to display. Where to Find an Adventure PassThe regular price for the U.S. Forest Service Adventure Pass is $5 per day, per vehicle or $30 per year, per vehicle. There are 12 free days per year when you do not need to pay the forest use fee.
